ISEV Board Member Receives Ireland’s Highest Academic Honor

MOUNT ROYAL, NJ - June 30, 2021 – The International Society of Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV), a leading professional society for researchers and scientists involved in the study of microvesicles and exosomes, is pleased to announce that ISEV Board Member Lorraine O’Driscoll, Professor of Pharmacology and Biomedicine at the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute, Trinity College Dublin, was inducted into the Royal Irish Academy on May 21. Prof. O’Driscoll was honored and recognized for her unique contributions to education and scientific research.

The Royal Irish Academy (RIA) is a forum of experts in the sciences and humanities that identify and recognize world class researchers in Ireland. Established in 1785, membership is awarded by election by the Academy, and is considered to be the highest academic honor in Ireland.

 

Prof. O’Driscoll is a leading cancer researcher and is a substantial contributor to the field of extracellular vesicles, leading a number of large-scale Europe-wide research Consortia on EVs that are funded by the EU Commission. She serves as one of two Co-Chairs for the International Organizing Committee (IOC) of the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV). Prof. O’Driscoll trains pharmacy, medical, biomedicine, and bio-engineering students at Trinity College Dublin and is Molecular Oncology Lead at Trinity St. James’s Cancer Institute.
