These recent months have been unlike any others in our lifetime. For months, the COVID-19 pandemic overwhelmed us. Then, the senseless murders of Black Americans, caught in images for the world to witness, shocked our collective conscience. At the root of it all is pain arising from decades of discrimination and disparities, culminating in the deaths of black men, women, and youth.

We are deeply saddened and horrified by the recent events and ongoing racism. With empathy and compassion, we acknowledge the pain and frustration that many are feeling. We want you to know that we stand in solidarity with the peaceful protests for equality and social justice across the world. We too must reflect on the gaps that exist in our community and act.

For years, ISEV has promoted diversity and equal representation from across the world. We will be working with you to address these issues in a transformative and sustainable manner. As a component of that, our Diversity and Inclusion team is developing more resources to help guide all of us and provide opportunities for dialogue. Together, we must aim for and achieve meaningful and lasting change.

On behalf of the ISEV board, thank you for your ongoing support and communication.
